The Department of Disaster Management, Ministry of Home and Cultural Affairs would like to invite Request for Quotations from the eligible bidders for Supply and Installation of monitoring equipment for the National Emergency Operation Centre.

Advisory on Rain/Snowfall

A western disturbance lies over Bhutan. Under the influence of the system, mostly cloudy weather with light rain/snowfall is likely over high passes and high altitude areas of Northern, Western and Central Bhutan from 3rd January (Friday) to 4th January (Saturday) 2020. Rest of the country is expected to be mostly cloudy with light rain during the same period. Mostly cloudy weather with light rain towards evening/night is expected across the country tomorrow on 2nd January (Thursday).

Updates will be issued if there are any significant changes in the forecast.

Advisory on Heavy Rainfall by NCHM

Date of Issue: 25th June, 2019
Time of Issue: 4:00 PM

South-west monsoon is active over the country. Heavy to very heavy rainfall has been recorded over the southern belts of the country during the last 24 hours.

Active monsoon is likely to continue during the next 48 hours (26th and 27th June). Due to this the southern and eastern parts of the country is likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall while the rest parts of the country is likely to receive light to moderate rain during these periods. Gusty wind with thunderstorm is also likely over isolated places of the southern and eastern parts of the country.

Updates will be issued if there are any significant changes in the forecast.

Update on the Water level of the lake on 25th June 2019

The Ministry of Home and Cultural affairs (MoHCA) would like to inform that the team from National Center for Hydrology and Meteorology (NCHM) has been able to restore the Automated Water Level Station (AWLS) of Thorthormi lake with the help of Principal and teachers from Lhedi Primary School, BHU and other staff. Thorthormi AWLS has started transmitting water level data automatically to Wangdi GLOF Control and NCHM Headquarter, Thimphu starting from 17:10 hours yesterday.

Update on the Water level of the lake on 24th June 2019:

In continuation to the press release issued on 23rd June 2019 by the Ministry of Home and Cultural affairs (MoHCA).the water level of the lakes reported to be normal. The National Center for Hydrology & Meteorology (NCHM) is continuously monitoring the Thanza lake site station, Wangdi Phodrang and Thimphu Control center.

Update on Water Level in Phochu as of 4 PM on 23rd June 2019:

In continuation to the Press Release issued on 21st June 2019 and subsequent update provided on 22nd June 2019 by the Ministry of Home & Cultural Affairs, the water level in the river continues to be normal, as of 4 pm on 23rd June 2019. The National Centre for Hydrology & Meteorology (NCHM) is monitoring the situation round the clock at Thanza lake-site station, Wangduephodrang and Thimphu Control Centres.
