Expressions of Interest

The Department of Disaster Management (DDM), Ministry of Home and Cultural Affairs (MoHCA) is looking for the Local Consultancy Firm to carry out the following tasks:-

  • Quality Bases Survey (QBS) to assess the level of awareness, preparedness and capacity and
  • Documentation of all the lessons and experiences derived from the project related to raising awareness on GLOF risks and building capacities in the vulnerable areas through various DRM programs.

Bhutan School Preparedness Drill

  On 21st September 2009, an earthquake of 6.1 Magnitude struck Eastern Bhutan resulting in loss of life and property. Though many school buildings were damaged, we were fortunate that children were not in school due to Blessed Rainy Day holiday preparations. This was followed by the earthquake epi-centered in Sikkim on 18th September 2011 that also affected many schools in Western Bhutan. The event happened on a Sunday evening and also did not result in casualties in schools. However, as we live in a high-risk seismic zone, we can expect more such earthquake events and for that we need to be more aware and better prepared........ Read More

Disaster Preparedness and Sensitization Training program on Dzong Fire Safety
