The Department of Disaster Management, MoHCA in collaboration with Department of School Education, MoE is implementing “School Based Disaster Preparedness in Bhutan” project funded by the European Commission Directorate-General Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection (DG-ECHO) through Save the Children, Bhutan Country Office under DipECHO -VII Project. One of the activities of the project is to form Dzongkhag Disaster Management (DM) Plan for one Dzongkhag as pilot Dzongkhag.
DDM in consultation with Paro Dzongkhag has decided to undertake Paro as pilot Dzongkhag to develop DM Plan. To develop, DM Plan, it is important to collect adequate data’s using Community Based Disaster Risk Management process.
CBDRM ToT for Paro Dzongkhag was conducted in 2011. Therefore, the“Community Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM) crash course for ToT’s of Paro Dzongkhag and roll out to Wangchang Gewog”, was conducted from 20th-26th January, 2014. The training was attended by 32 participants comprising of 8 Dzongkhag Sector Heads, 9 Gewog Administration Officers, 15 Gewog Extension Officers from all the 10 Gewogs under Paro Dzongkhag.
Following the crash course and roll down to Wangchang Gewog, the ToT’s will have to roll down the same training to the remaining 9 Gewogs. The “Community Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM) roll out training to Gewogs” under Paro Dzongkhag has been planned as per the following dates:
i. Lamgong Gewog – 3rd – 7th February, 2014
ii. Naja Gewog – 5th – 9th February, 2014
iii. Lungnyi Gewog – 7th – 11th February, 2014
iv. Tsento Gewog – 10th- 14th February, 2014
v. Shari Gewog – 11th- 15th February, 2014
vi. Hungrel Gewog – 15th- 19th February, 2014
vii. Shaba Gewog – 24th- 29th February, 2014
viii. Doteng Gewog – 4th – 8th March, 2014
ix. Dogar Gewog – 10th- 14th March, 2014
