National situational update on COVID-19

Highlights:

1. With 10 new positive cases detected in the last 24 hours (7 females and 3 males. All of them returned from the Middle East. 8 are from the quarantine facilities in Thimphu and 2 from Paro), the total cases reported in the country so far now stands at 43.

Appeal:

  • Since all cases that have been detected till date are imported and all individuals coming into the country are kept under mandatory quarantine for 21 days, we would like to request the public not to be alarmed about the recent spike in cases.
  • The Ministry of Health have put in place all required standards and protocols to ensure that every individual that leaves the quarantine or de-isolation facilities are free of COVID-19.
  • However, we would like to reiterate on the need to practice good personal hygiene, effective physical distancing and proper cough etiquette at all times.
  • Those who are currently under quarantine are requested to strictly abide by the established quarantine protocols at all times.
