Update on Water Level in Phochu as of 4 PM on 23rd June 2019:

In continuation to the Press Release issued on 21st June 2019 and subsequent update provided on 22nd June 2019 by the Ministry of Home & Cultural Affairs, the water level in the river continues to be normal, as of 4 pm on 23rd June 2019. The National Centre for Hydrology & Meteorology (NCHM) is monitoring the situation round the clock at Thanza lake-site station, Wangduephodrang and Thimphu Control Centres.

A four member technical team from the NCHM has successfully landed at the lake area in Lunana this morning with all necessary equipments after their flight had to be called off yesterday due to unfavorable weather. The team will be carrying out rapid assessment and reinstall the sensor for Early Warning System that is reported to have been damaged.

On the Command of His Majesty the King, 25 RBA personnel are arriving at Taktse Makhang today enroute to Lunana to reconstruct the Zamchu Bridge at Thanza and repair the other bridge at Toenchoe which was partially damaged. 17 civil servants of Lunana and 3 engineers of Gasa Dzongkhag have been mobilized to assist the RBA personnel in the reconstruction effort. Additionally, logistical arrangements have also been made by the Gasa Dzongkhag Administration for transportation of cement and other necessary materials to the site.
