Department of Disaster Management Safe, Resilient and Happy Bhutan
The Department of Disaster Management, Ministry of Home and Cultural Affairs in collaboration with the Dzongkhag Administration, Gasa conducted scenario based Tabletop simulation exercise on GLOF triggered by the earthquake from December 19-22, 2022. and updated the Dzongkhag Disaster Management and Contingency Plan from 20nd May 2022.
The opening programme of the training was graced by Dasho Dzongdag and highlighted the importance of disaster education and enhancing capacities at the grass root levels. Dasho Dzongdag further emphasized that the training is timely and will benefit in formulating disaster management and contingency planning at the gewog levels. The participants of the training programme are the officials from the Dzongkhag, newly elected local government leaders, representatives from the Royal Bhutan Police and Desuung/BRCS.
The training is aimed at enhancing the preparedness and response capabilities of the local government functionaries during the times of disaster.
