A three-day disaster management awareness programme, conducted by the Department of Disaster Management, Ministry of Home and Cultural Affairs, in collaboration with the Lhuentse Dzongkhag administration, and the Royal Bhutan Police, concluded today. The participants were the newly elected gups, mangmis, Gewog Administration Officers, officials from the Dzongkhag, Forest Range Office, BAFRA, Royal Bhutan Police and the RICBL.
The training participants were made aware on the common terms and terminologies used in disaster management, overview of disaster management in Bhutan, disaster management institutions and their roles and responsibilities, proceedings of mockdrill, and Disaster Reporting Protocols and Operational Guidelines for Disaster Financing 2017. The advocacy programmes were complemented by the multi-hazard disaster preparedness audiovisual presentations.
Based on the presentation of the Lhuentse Dzongkhag Disaster Management and Contingency Plan, the Dzongkhag DMCP was reviewed and updated. The programme concluded by fire safety presentations followed by practical session on the use of different types of fire extinguishers.
