International Day for Disaster Reduction 2018 was observed in Gelephu Middle Secondary School (GMSS) under the theme “Reducing Economic Losses from Disaster in relation to global GDP by 2030” on 13th October, 2018. Around 270 representatives from dungkhag office, thromde office, 4 schools under gelephu thromde and other sectors (national and international) came together to observe the day. The day began with offering of butter lamps and singing national anthem followed by marchang ceremony and opening addresses from the guests.
The students from GMSS welcomed us with a Welcome Dance followed by the cultural show from other participating Thromde Schools. Our chief Guest, Dasho Thrompon visited and run through the exhibitions by the schools which are related to the Disasters.
