User training on Multi Hazard Risk Decision Support System (08-08-2022)

The Department of Disaster Management, Ministry of Home and Cultural Affairs, started a three-day user training on Multi Hazard Risk Decision Support System, developed by the international consulting firm, DHI Water and Environments Private Limited, based in Singapore and funded by the World Bank. Mr. Tom Burkitt, a team leader for the development of the system is the resource person for the training.

The system was developed to harmonize risk data collected by different agencies in isolation which is leading to duplication of effort and resources. The training participants are from the technical agencies that are responsible for collection of risk data. Prior to the training, Mr. Burkitt, along with the officials from the DDM and representative from the World Bank also visited the Department of Information Technology and Telecoms, MoIC and the National Land Commission Secretariat, to discuss the scope of the system and the hosting plans.
